This article provides instructions for you to learn how to use the Duo Device Management Portal (link) to edit, delete, or reactivate your Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) device(s)

Reactivating the Duo Mobile App

If you have a new device but have the same phone number, you will need to reactivate the Duo Mobile app on your new device:

  1. Go to the Duo Device Management Portal (link) and login using your UH username and password
  2. If your device automatically uses the Duo Push option, click on Other options at the bottom
  3. When you see Other options to log in, select Phone call and on your phone, answer the call and press 1 on the keypad to approve the login and proceed
  4. For Is this your device?, choose Yes if its a personal device; or No if the device is shared
  5. You will now be asked to authenticate again at the Verify your identity before managing devices dialog, where you can use the Phone Call option once more
  6. In the square with the phone number or device you would like to reactivate, click I have a new phone
  7. A dialog will appear saying Let's set up your phone, click on Get started
  8. In the Confirm ownership dialog, click on Send me a passcode to receive a verification code sent to your phone number
  9. When you see the Passcode sent dialog, enter the verification code you received and click on Verify
  10. On the Download Duo Mobile dialog, if you have not yet already, download the app from the App Store or Google Play, then click Next
  11. When you see the quick response (QR) code displayed, open the Duo Mobile app on your phone:
    1. If you are asked if you want to allow Duo Mobile to sent notifications, please allow notifications
    2. Press the Add + icon on the top right and select Use QR Code (If you are asked if you want to allow Duo Mobile to access the camera, please allow access)
    3. Point your phone's camera at the QR code and it will automatically recognize it when scanned
  12. When you see Added Duo Mobile, you can click on Continue to finish the reactivation

Deleting a Duo Device

If you are no longer using a device for Duo, it is strongly recommended to remove the device, so that it can no longer be used to authenticate:

  1. Go to the Duo Device Management Portal (link) and login using your UH username and password, then authenticate with Duo MFA
  2. You will now be asked to authenticate again at the Verify your identity before managing devices dialog
  3. In the square with the phone number or device you would like to delete, click on Edit
  4. A dropdown will appear, click on Delete
  5. In the Delete [device name]? dialog, select Delete [device name] (device name is the name of the device on Duo)
  6. The device should disappear from your list of devices

Renaming a Duo Device

If you have multiple devices of similar type, it may help you give each device a name that is less generic:

  1. Go to the Duo Device Management Portal (link) and login using your UH username and password, then authenticate with Duo MFA
  2. You will now be asked to authenticate again at the Verify your identity before managing devices dialog
  3. In the square with the phone number or device you would like to delete, click on Edit
  4. A dropdown will appear, click on Rename
  5. In the Rename [device name] dialog, enter the new name (device name is the name of the device on Duo) then select Rename
  6. The new name should show in the square with the device
