GitHub Enterprise - Copilot Licensing

Overview

GitHub Copilot is an AI-powered developer tool integrated directly into modern Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) and the GitHub web interface. It provides real-time code completions, natural language chat assistance, code explanations, unit test generation, and pull request summaries. It is distinct service and not related to the Copilot for Windows service with which you may be familiar.
Under UH's Standard Enterprise Agreement, GitHub Copilot licenses are assigned at the individual user level. While users collaborate within various University GitHub Organizations, their GitHub Copilot access travels with their linked identity across the entire UH GitHub Enterprise and may also be used with GitHub organizes that are not in the UH GitHub Enterprise.

FAQS

Even if you are using a UH provided Copilot license, your IDE plugin for Copilot may not understand this and assume you are paying for Copilot tokens with your own funds. Contact ITS Site Licensing should you need to purchase more tokens.
